The weather’s getting colder, days shorter and trees are turning golden. Yep, it’s back to reality for most of us: back to school, working 9-to-5 jobs, and paying bills. In the middle of all these things we’ve been doing year-round, fall tends to sneak in on us fast.

Lunchtime outings were always enjoyed in the sun and might have been longer than you wanted during the warmer months. Now that summer is making its exit, there are a few ways to keep yourself busy and stress-free during the cooler months of the year. Coming into fall, we tend to step up our game in our career but your work stress levels don’t need to be revamped along with it. Below are a few tips to help you manage your stress in a positive way and help you return to your cubicle or building in a more positive way.

  1. Declutter Your Space – Just as you are going to be raking away leaves around your home this time of year, it might be beneficial to also declutter your workspace as well. Look around at any irreverent files or papers that might be cluttering in a corner of your desk. Take a few minutes to re-organize a spot that gives you some anxiety and can leave you less distracted. One of the first things I do is make sure that everything that I can see on my desk has a home. I have a place for writing utensils, a calendar to keep everything color-coded and organized, and even work on cleaning out the inbox on my computer.

  2. Make the Most of Shorter Days: As the seasons change from summer to fall, one thing many of us can agree on is the effect of lack of sunlight. It’s dark when you wake up and dark again by the time school or your workday is over. While it might not seem like you have enough to do in between the daytime hours, you can. Fall gives you reasons to get outside and make the most of the sunlight when you have it. Fall foliage searching is a great idea to do on weekends with the family, going on apple picking or even helping rake neighbors’ leaves for money, or just enjoy playing in the leaves!

  3. Mental Health: If you’ve been dealing with anxiety lately, your biggest support is talking to a professional to either be put on medicine or discuss your struggles with a psychologist. If there are certain issues that make you feel self-conscious about something, then try to figure a way to fix that. Many new moms see noticeable hair loss a few months after having a baby.  Like many women who struggle with postpartum hair loss, one idea to help boost your confidence is to talk to someone who specializes in scalp micropigmentation. Picasso Scalp Micropigmentation is an innovative treatment option for blandness in any form for both men and women. A professional, like Jeff Villenas who began his company, uses a special S.M.P. pen to implant pigment into the scalp in the form of microdot tattoos to give your scalp the appearance of hair follicles in a pattern of your regular hairline or to fill in some thin areas. It can be a huge benefit to those of any age, gender, or circumstances and the procedure is non-surgical! Be sure to check out this California scalp micropigmentation to boost your mental health and self-confidence.

  4. Revamp Your Daily Routine: If you think you are putting in too many hours at work, break it up if you can with a morning walk, lunch with a friend, and ending the night with a good book or meditating. Changing your daily routine can help you be more productive and attempt to balance both your work and social life. If that seems too much to do in a day, at least get out once a month to see friends, a date night with your significant other, or a small weekend getaway trip.

There are many ways to help you destress with a new season coming up. You could work on gratitude journaling, take a new hobby of painting or crafting, or attempt a bucket list you wanted to complete in 2020. Whatever your ideas, do so with an open mind and work on stress management the best you can.

With everything we have going on in our lives whether it be work, family, friends, school, etc., it’s sometimes hard to set it all aside to take time for ourselves and just RELAX. I really hope these tips and tricks help you to remove (or at least reduce) all of the stressors in your life to minimize stress and improve your overall wellness!
