The increase in women’s health awareness led to the creation of this series that target women of all ages.
A new trend has surfaced recently that aims to help women live long and live strong. The rise in diseases like heart disease, lung cancer, diabetes, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and osteoporosis, which can affect both sexes at any time, has led to an increased public demand for good quality healthcare. And this is where the importance of women’s health comes into play.

Women’s health goes beyond having children. It is a continuous journey from our twenties to old age. We need to pay attention to nutrition, physical activities, and follow doctors’ advice in order to prevent diseases and enjoy a healthy life.
Women’s health issues are of utmost importance. Millions of women suffer from painful symptoms causing emotional distress and worrying about their health. When symptoms like depression, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, sadness, loss of libido (sex drive) premature grey hair, or sleeplessness occur in women, it is important that they go to see the doctor without delay.

PLANNING THE WOMEN AND HEALTH SERIES

Due to the prevalence of women-related health concerns, I decided to reach out to Kim after sharing her article on the blog. Asking her if she would like to partner with us for the ‘Women and Health Series’. She in turn invited me to attend the Wellness and Sustainability event organised by Lone Design Club in Chelsea for the month of August and September showcasing independent sustainable and wellness brands in London.

Since this is our first campaign ever, with the focus on Women and Health, I was looking forward to attending. Armed with my photographer, I met and interviewed four brands at the Lone Design Club, namely Perfino U.K., ST Essentials, Filth Florist, and Kanava Clothing.
One thing I found very impressive with all these brands is how they have sustainability as their goal.

WOMEN’S HEALTH CHOICES

We all know we should make healthy choices in life, but sometimes it’s not easy! The food environment around us is a challenge. Our health care system is a challenge. There are a lot of barriers for women to make a healthy choice in a sea full of unhealthy options.
Today there are more and more pressures for women in our society to be thin and stay in shape. Now, we know that it is important for both sexes to choose health over lifestyle, but it is even more important for women in my opinion.
Good health is something that’s difficult to achieve — particularly in the modern world. Not only are there innumerable hazards lurking in the environment that can hurt you, but it’s also difficult to figure out which of the myriad available treatments work or don’t work for your condition (and what condition you’re dealing with in the first place).

Our next series of posts will touch upon things like psychological coping mechanisms — which you may be using without realizing it — and how these tactics can negatively impact your well-being.
Being healthy as a woman involves more than just eating well and getting in some exercise now and then. There are quite a few things that can harm our health if we’re not careful about them. Understanding those facets of our daily life is important for us to live healthy lives.

MYTH ABOUT WOMEN’S HEALTH

Traditionally, women’s health refers to how a woman can maintain and promote her own health throughout life, and this includes both physical and mental well-being. There is a common misconception that women’s health is simply about having children. And although we often associate women’s health with family planning and childbirth, the truth is that it is more than that.

Anyone who thinks women only have to think about their health when they are pregnant, have children, or get old is completely wrong. Actually, women’s health is an ongoing issue that shouldn’t be underestimated.

The truth is that health is one of the most essential things in life without which it can’t exist. Every woman should take care of her health because it reflects not only on her well-being but also on her family’s.
Women’s health concerns cover a wide range of topics, from every day to the complex. There are women’s health issues that we can face at all ages and stages of life.
On this women and health series, you will find resources and information to empower you to make informed decisions about your health care. You’ll also learn about what steps you can take — along with your healthcare provider — to foster good health and help overcome certain health problems.
