For someone who loves to travel a-lot, it is quite difficult to pick a top 3 vacation destination. As a matter of fact, more than 3 vacation destinations came to me when I decided to write this.
However, I finally settled for these 3 vacation destinations not because they topped the list during my thought process, but because they are significant to some of the decision I made later on. So, here we go;
DESTINATIONE ONE: MALDIVES
Maldives topped the list for me because it holds one of my fondest memories. It was the destination for our honeymoon. I agree with people who say that Maldives is the most romantic place on Earth. It is also a tropical holiday destination in the Indian Ocean surrounded by 240 Islands. Our flight from the UK took roughly about 24 hours with 3 flights from London to Qatar and Qatar to the Male, then a flight shuttle of roughly 45 minutes and a speed boat for 45 minutes arriving at REETHI Faro Resort in the North Atoll.
We felt regal as soon as arrived. We received a warm welcomed at the airport by our resort representative and thereafter, escorted to the seaplane waiting to take us the resort.
Our lodging accommodation was in an overwater bungalow and I was so excited because I love swimming and watching the myriad of marine life. Everybody knows that Islands are surrounded by water but Maldives waters are crystalline waters with beautiful shades of blue.It is the best location in the world for diving and snorkelling. Imagine swimming in the Indian Ocean among colourful arrays of sea turtles, Reef sharks, stingrays and so many more. It’s like swimming in a giant aquarium.
I must say that Maldives has good weather all year round so, you can’t go wrong. Plus, the people in the Maldives are incredibly friendly. Honestly guys, you don’t want to miss out on this paradise. Here is a known fact; Maldives is currently at 1.3 meters above sea level. If the sea level rises by 1 meter, the island will be uninhabitable. In other words, with the global warming and climate changes, Maldives may disappear in 10 years or less. So here is an advice to get your bags packed and get going guys!
DESTINATION TWO: PRAGUE
The second top vacation destination is Prague. Prague has been voted many times as the best city to live in Central and Eastern Europe – and we know why! My love for Prague began as soon as I arrived. There is something about a historical city that gets to me. Perhaps it is the past events that occurred in the city and how educational they are. Prague is an ancient European city but with a twist. It has all the coolness of a modern city wrapped into one. Do you know that Prague is the capital of Czech Republic and the architecture is simply amazing. In fact, Prague castle is second place for architectural beauty.
It is a romantic city but not as romantic as Maldives. My three days in this city was therapeutic. I visited Prague in the spring, waking up early to catch the sunrise helps you appreciate why Prague is seen by many as the most beautiful city in the world.
The people are open-minded and friendly. They allow you the space to enjoy and appreciate their city but always willing to assist you if you need help. As I toured through the city, I concluded that Charles Bridge and Petrin Hill were my most favourite spots of the city and equally breath-taking. From Petrin Hill you see Prague from above and Charles Bridge create the picturesque ultimate romantic vibe of a man saving his woman on a rainy cold winter.
As I stood in Old Town Square , I was awestruck. It felt like going back 600 or 700 years back in time. The Old Town Square is one of two main squares in Prague ( Wenceslas Square is the other just 5 minutes walk away). With its ancient buildings and magnificent churches, this is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Europe.
One of the most note worthy thing about travelling around Prague, is that it is safe for women even at night which is always a plus for me when travelling alone. I must mention that the transport system is super reliable and the tram is just too cool for school!
DESTINATION THREE: California
California. Where do I begin with California? This is One of my most favourite vacation destination. One of the great things about California is the weather! California is that city that is always sunny even in the winter seasons. I love the food! As a foodie, it is necessary I mention this part. Most times when I visit California, I always feel like a native since the other half of my family lives there.
My very dear friend and her family also live in LA. In LA there is so much to see and do. For instance you can visit Sunset Boulevard, Universal Studios, Hollywood, Griffith Observatory, Griffith Park, Venice Canals Walkway and Hollywood sign just to name a few!
This state is conveniently placed to enable travels either by road or plane to other states. I like to visit mainly between September-December. I will advise that if you decide to visit in December and if it is snowing in Big Bear, be sure to take a trip! You can experience all seasons living in California. If you’re a skier then pack up and head to Big Bear or the nearby ski resorts to experience temperatures of -10. We visited Las Vegas, San Diego all my road on day trips – you can hire a car and do the trips without a sweat! California has it all, no wonder those who live there never want to leave! I don’t blame them.
Last but not least, the people in California are incredible – usually super friendly and nice. I like walking my sister’s yorkies and we always get strangers saying hello and stopping for a really long chat if you’re the type who enjoys these sorts of pleasantries. California is a must visit.
